Lists of Objects
In lists, objects are represented by small icons and object names. Icons help the user to recognize object types.
Vine shows objects in general and object pane lists:
A general-purpose list includes separate objects which you can delete from the database. By dragging some object onto an object in a general list you connect these two objects. For example, lists shown on the Today/To-Do pages and on the Tool panes are all general lists.
An object pane list includes objects connected to the currently shown main object. Each object pane groups objects according to some type (or types) of connections between the main shown object and the pane objects. You cannot delete objects listed in an object pane list. You can only disconnect the listed objects from the main shown object. Note, that by dragging some object onto the pane list you add the object to the list which means that you are creating a connection between the dragged object and the main shown object. For example, company employees are organized in the following object pane list:
Moving through Lists
You can move through a list with the mouse using the vertical scroll bar or with the keyboard using the following keys:
The UP ARROW or DOWN ARROW keys take you one item up or down, respectively.
The PAGE UP or PAGE DOWN keys take you one page up or down.
The HOME and END keys take you to the top or bottom of the list, respectively.
Selecting Objects
Click an object in the list to select the object.
Selecting several objects:
To select several objects in the list, hold down the CTRL key, and then click objects you want to select. Click a selected object to deselect it.
To select several adjacent objects, click the first object, then hold down the SHIFT key and click the last object.
To select all the objects in the list, click any object and then choose Select All from the Edit menu or press CTRL+A.
To deselect all selected objects, just release the CTRL or SHIFT key and click any object in the list.
Note that you always change the selected object when you move through a list using keyboard keys.
Deleting Objects in Lists
In lists showing objects, you can select multiple objects and then right-click any of the selected objects to invoke the shortcut menu. From the shortcut menu you can choose Delete Object(s) to delete the objects.
Deleting Connections in Lists
In lists showing connected objects, you can select multiple objects and then right-click any of the selected objects to invoke the shortcut menu. From the shortcut menu you can choose Delete Connection(s) to disconnect the selected objects from the main shown object.
Alternatively, to disconnect the selected objects from the main shown object you can simply press the Delete key.
