Overview
Vine Telephony makes the telephone and the PC work effectively together using the contact data stored in the Vine database. Employees of sales & marketing units, call & help centers, service & support departments, etc. can benefit from controlling their phone calls with Vine.
Vine combines the voice communication over the telephone with the data-processing power of the PC in order to make intelligent phone calls possible. It communicates with the phone to provide the operator with the basic call control capabilities and interacts with the Vine database to supply the operator with complete call-related information.
Supporting TAPI enabled and mobile phones. Vine is able to communicate with a TAPI phone through the Microsoft Telephony Application Programming Interface (TAPI) and with a mobile phone directly.
Making calls. The operator clicks a phone link in Vine or chooses the preferred phone number from the right-click Contact menu and places a phone call. Vine takes care of registering the call and saving the notes made during the conversation.
Answering calls. When a call comes through, Vine identifies the caller and displays all related information available in the database. The operator picks up the phone having all needed information readily available on the screen. The caller receives immediate and competent help. Vine automatically registers the call in the database and saves the notes taken by the operator during the call.
Keeping track of calls. Each call made or received through Vine can be recorded as an event in the Vine database. The event can contain notes taken by the operator during the call and holds connections to the persons who participated in the call.
Using Phonebook Tool. Phone numbers of the current user colleagues are listed on the Phone book tab for quick access.
Using folders as Phone directories. Any folder of persons or companies can be used as a phone directory in Vine. The operator only needs to right-click a person/company and select Contact to make a call.
Matching telephone numbers to people. If needed the operator can easily match a phone number to the contact from the database.
Saving call costs. After a minimum of configuration settings, Vine is able to distinguish inter-office calls from local area calls or long distance calls and route them accordingly.
