Working with Objects
Opening an Object
To open an object, double-click it. The object will be opened in the view area.
Creating an Object
To create a new object, click the corresponding icon on the Toolbar or right-click any object of this type and choose New from the shortcut menu. Enter the data. It is always necessary to give a name to the new object.
Deleting an Object
Right-click the object and select Delete Object from the shortcut menu. Since this operation is irreversible you will be asked to confirm the deletion. After confirmation is received, the object and all its connections will be deleted. The administrator can later restore the object or remove it permanently from the database.
Using Shortcut Menu
You can perform any operation on an object using the shortcut menu:
Click the object to select it. You can click the object in any list. If the object is open in the view area, click in its object pane or the Information pane for maps and folders.
Right-click the object. The shortcut menu will appear. Choose the desired action.
Creating an Object Connection
To connect objects, you can drag one object onto another one. You can do this when creating connections between objects, when adding an object to a folder, when placing an object on a Map, and so on.
Deleting an Object Connection
To delete a connection, right-click a connected object and select Delete Connection(s) from the shortcut menu. This operation does not delete the object itself, only the connection between two objects.
To relieve doubt about whether you are deleting an object or a connection, please remember that you will be always asked for confirmation before deleting an object or a connection.
Duplicating an Object
If you want to create a new object similar to an existing one, it is convenient to use the Duplicate command. To duplicate an object, right-click it and choose Duplicate from the shortcut menu. The corresponding Edit form will appear. It will contain the data of the object being duplicated, thus permitting you to do a few modifications and to save the new object.
Note that the Duplicate command copies only the object's data. It does not copy the object's connections and Editing/Visibility settings.
For example, only the data of the Information pane will be duplicated for a folder. The folder members will be not duplicated to the new copy of the folder.
